This floats are available air or foam filled. Both are made of tough high density, rotary molded polyethylene. Air filled floats avoid added weight and cost of foam. Other brand names construct floats with thin plastic using foam inside for rigidity; however, the thin wall punctures easily. Water absorbed by foam cells causes buoyancy loss. Repairs fail because foam will not release water.
